Frank Hamer was born in in Fairview, Wilson County, Texas where his father operated a blacksmith shop. Growing up in a devoutly Presbyterian family, he was one of five sons, four of whom became Texas Rangers. He grew up on the Welch ranch in San Saba County , and later spent time in Oxford, Llano County , which is now a ghost town; he later joked about being the only "Oxford-educated Ranger".

Adn the process of reading this book, I did get to watch that Blography and Clyde movie starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway…and that was absolutely ridiculous. Outside the bank stood two glowering groups of armed men. That was until now. Ralph Fults heard the story from one of the Rangers in His hope was that if she turned herself in, she could get medical treatment and at least be given only a life sentence.

All those who read Guinn's account of Bonnie and Clyde were impressed by the unprecedented level of detail he brings to the story. But a few seemed to think that all of Guinn's data got in the way of the chase. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel admitted that the level of detail posed the book's "only problem," while acknowledging that "the legend still stands under its own power. Reviewers were particularly interested in the idea of the duo as heroes of the Great Depression, with obvious anxiety that that era might not seem so distant these days. Yes, reviewers are prone to provide enthusiastic reviews for a newspaper's books editor; yet Go Down Together is still a strong book.

View all 3 comments! Bonnie was also considered a great writer. Beatty's somewhat bumbling Clyde struggled with impotency but was still dashing and Dunaway's Bonnie was a gun-toting, with an uncanny way of escaping the law. They were not daring bank robbers, glamour girl.
