  1. Alistair MacLean wrote the screen play for his close friend, it reads like the second draft of a finished novel. Except for the first chapter, no spoilers. After stashing their equipment at a deserted railway station, Smith leads the team to a pub in the village where he separates from the others and rendezvous wjere Heidi, Richard Burton. The ending was not quite what I expect.

The novel, upon which the movie was based, was written by Alistair Maclean, who also wrote the screenplay and this is one of the reasons that the movie is faithful to the book version. 👪
