One thing that is very well done in this book is the depiction of antisemitism in Toronto in the early part of the 20 th century. So Sally, our protagonist, is eleven years old and lives in Toronto with her parents and her five sisters, of which she is just in the middle. Sally is humiliated, but Benny is all for the plan.
