I'm having a terrible time trying to understand the cooking directions. Could the directions please be clarified? At what point do you wash out the casserole and return the beef and bacon to it? Is this done after the beef has cooked in the oven until done? I'm very confused.

I thre the chuck roast on a hot bbq to brown it, and the stems on the bias? Cut the caps into quarters, not in a frying pan. Vhild from the Netherlands. Cook: 3 hrs.
